Human Resources Administrator

The County of Vermilion River is seeking a dedicated and experienced Human Resources Administrator to oversee all facets of HR operations. Reporting to the Director of Corporate Services, this position encompasses all HR-related functions, including the development and implementation of HR strategies, policies, and programs that align with the County’s Strategic Plan and objectives while nurturing a positive and inclusive work environment.

Key Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, or related discipline is preferred; Diploma or Certificate in Human Resources Management, Labor Relations or related discipline will be considered.
• Experience as an HR Administrator, HR Generalist, or similar role is required.
• Comprehensive knowledge of Alberta Employment Law, Standards, Human Rights Legislation, FOIP, OH&S, and HR principles and best practices.
• Certified Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) would be considered an asset.
• Consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide leadership and direction for all Human Resource functions including Compensation, Benefits, Workforce Planning, Recruitment, Retention, Performance Management, Learning & Development, Career Planning and Succession Planning.
• Responsible for the formulation and evaluation of policies, standards, and procedures; ensure practices are compliant with legislation and administrative regulations, and industry best practices.
• Maintain employee records and personnel files.
• Oversee workplace investigations, disciplinary actions, grievances, and terminations in compliance with County policies and legal requirements; conduct reviews and analyze feedback to identify trends and areas for improvement.
• Manage employee relations, resolve conflicts, provide guidance and support to employees and managers; cultivate a positive work environment that fosters respect and teamwork.
• Maintain compensation data, advise on compensation and benefits practices, market surveys, and trends.
• Oversee employee benefits programs and policies in collaboration with Payroll department.

• Elevated level of integrity, professionalism, ethics, and confidentiality
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to build strong relationships
• Demonstrated ability to support leaders with practical advice and consultation on employee management issues.
• Strong organizational and time management skills
