Ian McCormack, CMC

President, Strategic Steps

 

Strategic Steps President Ian McCormack has a broad range of experience including work in
government, forprofit, and non-profit areas.

In the past few years, he has worked in two US states, three Canadian provinces, all of Canada’s northern territories, and in Australia. His areas of focus include local government, ethics, libraries, post-secondary education, and non-profit organizations.

His first book on the principles of good governance, Who’s Driving the Grader and Other Governance Questions was published by Municipal World in 2020. His second book, The DNA of Great Leaders is about the attributes of the best functioning mayors, reeves, & board chairs came out in 2022.

Carolyn Stern

Carolyn Stern is a certified Emotional Intelligence and Leadership Development Expert, professional speaker, award-winning author, and university professor. Since launching her book, The Emotionally Strong Leader: An Inside-Out Journey to Transformational Leadership, Carolyn has quickly gained acclaim following her appearances on The Social, CTV Your Morning, Daytime Chicago, and Global TV.
Her book was awarded the Axiom Book Award for the Best Business Book in 2023 in the leadership
category and the 2022 Foreword INDIES Book of the Year Award in the career category.

Carolyn has also been featured in various media outlets across the globe, including Forbes, Fast Company, The European Business Review, The Globe and Mail, and Inc.com. Carolyn’s emotional intelligence courses and modules have been adopted by top universities, and she has trained over 35,000 business leaders across the continent in highly regarded corporations.

Don Iveson

Don Iveson

City of Edmonton Mayor, Retired

 

Don served as Edmonton’s Mayor from 2013 until 2021, and Chair of Canada’s Big City Mayors for 5 years. Since retiring from City Hall, he continues to live in Edmonton. He works part-time with Co-Operators as Executive Advisor for Climate Investment and Community Resilience.

Don is also ramping up Civic Good, a public policy advisory practice working on climate resilience, housing innovation, and civic innovation projects with like-minded clients ranging from startups to governments.

He has accepted an appointment as a School of Cities Canadian Urban Leader at the University of Toronto, is a member of the Expert Panel on Adaptation at the Canadian Climate Institute, and volunteers as Board Co-Chair of the Canadian Alliance to End Homelessness.
