GFOA Alberta is Growing!
We’ve always been dedicated to supporting our Albertan municipalities and their Finance Officers and support staff, and now, as our world gets smaller and better connected every day, we are delighted to open our doors to our fellow municipalities from our neighbouring provinces as well.
We’re creating resources for our new members, including a brand new series in conjuunction with the CRA on GST/HST management, featuring Michael Monk and designed specifically for our newest ‘Province Plus’ members joining from Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Northwest Territories and Yukon.
We’re also collaborating with GFOA US and Canada to offer special discounted rates for all of our members, both inside and outside Alberta, and lots more.

September is here, and with it comes another busy season for GFOA Alberta. But before I carry on, I was walking past a farm and a sign said ‘Duck, eggs.’ I thought, “That’s an unnecessary comma,” and then it hit me.
Our 2026–27 Professional Development schedule is now underway, with learning opportunities planned right through to June. We kick things off on September 17 with Tantus Solutions and AI & Data Enablement, followed on September 24 by the first of our complimentary GST/HST webinars with Michael Monk of the Canada Revenue Agency. We’re pleased to be opening the GST series to our finance colleagues and association partners outside Alberta as well. It’s another opportunity to share knowledge, strengthen connections and learn from one another across jurisdictions. Those relationships continue to be an important focus for us.
On September 13, we’ll be heading to Winnipeg to attend the Manitoba Municipal Finance Conference and connect with finance officers and association colleagues there. We look forward to sharing ideas, learning about what’s happening in their municipalities and continuing to build relationships beyond Alberta.
And somehow, planning for 2027 is already underway, here we go again! We’re working on another year of professional development, member opportunities and, of course, our 2027 Annual Conference.
