Welcome to GFOA Alberta’s Municipal Memberships

If you’re an employee in a financial or accounting role of any Alberta municipality, you’re eligible for a municipal membership. If your municipality is a current member of GFOA Alberta, your membership is managed through your municipality.  To find out if your municipality is an active member, check with your department head or reach out to us.  (Hundreds of Alberta municipalities already maintain membership with GFOA AB on an annual basis.)

If your municipality is not an active member of GFOA Alberta, you may join as an individual by going back and choosing the Individual Memberships option here.

Follow the steps below to register your municipality for membership in 2024.

PLEASE NOTE:    Only Primary Contacts may set up a municipal membership, and must assign a membership to themselves before assigning memberships to other municipal members. Municipal members may be added by the Primary Contact after the municipal membership is activated.

Are You an Employee of an Alberta Municipality and Want to Become a Member?

As an employee of an Alberta municipality, your membership is managed by our municipality. To make sure you are registered as a member, please reach out to your department head or the Primary Contact for GFOA Alberta to enroll.

If your municipality is not a member of GFOA Alberta,  we’d be delighted to help set up a membership for the municipality. Otherwise, you may register at your own expense as a non-municipal member. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions!

How To Purchase or Renew Your Municipal Membership

 

To support municipalities of all sizes and budgets, GFOA Alberta offers a flat rate membership for municipalities, based on the population level. Each municipal membership provides sub-accounts for unlimited members at no additional charge, so you’re able to offer GFOA Alberta benefits to as many municipal members as you like.

 

Please complete your membership purchase by choosing the membership level that matches your municipality and choosing your preferred method of payment.

 

Once you have purchased your municipal mambership, you will receive your login credentials for your Primary Contact Municipal Dashboard. On that Dashboard you will be able to add  the names and emails of each member you want to include, as well as a section where you can update memberships for people who move into or out of your municipal group. All members must have unique emails to be activated in the GFOA Alberta system.

Please note that you may need to wait up to two hours for your memberships are assignable in your Dashboard.

 

If you want to add additional members after your initial setup, you will find a tab in your My Municipal Group section where you will be able to add other members of your municipality as additional complimentary members with full membership benefits.

 

Finally, if you have more than 15 members to add to your group, you may request an import through your dashboard and we will import your full member list for you. You will find instructions for requesting an import in your Dashboard.

The Primary Contact is responsible for managing the members of your municipal group, updating the member list and removing or adding members as personnel within your municipality changes. If you have not been the Primary Contact in the past and are taking the role on for 2023, please continue through the Registration form.
