Alberta Capital Finance Authority

ACFA (formerly the Alberta Municipal Financing Corporation) was established by statute in 1956 as a non profit corporation and continues as a corporation under authority of the Alberta Capital Finance Authority Act (Alberta).

The business of ACFA is to provide local authorities within Alberta with flexible funding for capital projects at the lowest possible cost. In addition, ACFA may act as a financial agent or otherwise for such local authorities in negotiating loans or refinancing securities, and may also provide other financial services to local authorities prescribed or otherwise authorized by the Lieutenant Governor in Council on behalf of the Province.

The business of ACFA is administered by a Board of Directors comprised of nine members. Four Board members are elected and five Board members are appointed by the Lieutenant Governor in Council for Alberta.
