The Municipal District of Wainwright No. 61 is currently seeking a highly qualified individual with exceptional interpersonal communication skills to head its
Development Department. The ideal candidate will be very organized, multi-disciplined and task oriented with strong human resource skills. They should have a minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of experience working in a municipal planning and/or development department. Applicants that have a degree or certification in Planning and/or Development or a combination of experience and education that will complement the position will be preferred.

The M.D. of Wainwright is an employer of choice with an excellent working environment and a very competitive salary and benefit structure. The M.D.’s annual operating and capital budget is approximately $40 million per year. The Director of Development Service, formerly known as the Development Officer, is a full-time permanent position that is responsible for the M.D. of Wainwright planning functions, administering and enforcing the Land Use Bylaw, Municipal Development Plan, Statutory Plans and underground utilities administration.
The M.D. of Wainwright is located in east central Alberta approximately 200 km east of the City of Edmonton. The M.D has a population of approximately 4,400 with a very diverse economy driven by agriculture, oil and gas and the military.
